Abstract:
Post-occupancy evaluation of housing development for the elderly: the case of Cidade Madura in Campina Grande - PB. The purpose of this work is to evaluate the housing project of social interest for the elderly people, called Cidade Madura, located in the city of Campina Grande-PB. This work aims to evaluate the architectural and urban characteristics of the project, as well as to highlight the opinions of the residents about the housing project, focusing on the adequacy of the urban design and the urban and architectural project to the user needs, urban insertion of the residents, and the quality of the built environment. For the evaluation of the urban insertion of the housing project, it was used the methodological tool proposed by FAU-USP’s Laboratory for Public Space and the Right to the City - LabCidade (ROLNIK, 2014). The urban and architectural aspects of the Cidade Madura project were evaluated according to the assumptions of the City and Housing Network (MIRANDA, 2018). In addition to the set of indicators and variables included in the reference studies, other complementary ones were added to better characterize the needs and difficulties of the elderly, particularly those related to accessibility in the housing complex and in the building. The results of the study indicate that despite the main problems identified in the enterprise related to urban insertion, accessibility, expropriation of collective spaces, socio-spatial segregation and age, there is approval and satisfaction by the majority of the residents with the current housing and the Cidade Madura program. Among the reasons for the good evaluation of the housing complex are: access to decent housing, low monthly fees, or in some cases the exemption from payment, and the opportunity to socialize with people of the same age group. It is concluded that new solutions and strategies need to be implemented so that future housing complex can solve identified failures, increasing the suitability of the enterprise and the level of user satisfaction
