Abstract:
Brucellosis and tuberculosis are infectious diseases, which are part of the list of the World
Organization for Animal Health, notifiable that cause significant impacts on international trade of
animals and animal byproducts, and are important zoonoses. In order to evaluate the disease in
the upper interior, we conducted a retrospective study in the municipalities of Belem do Brejo do
Cruz, Bom Sucesso, Brejo do Cruz, Brejo dos Santos, Catolé do Rocha, Jerico, Mato Grosso,
Pombal, Riacho dos Cavalos , São Bento, São Jose do Brejo do Cruz, Sousa. Paraíba State. They
are Belém do Brejo do Cruz, Bom Sucesso, Brejo do Cruz, Catolé do Rocha, Jericó, Mato
Grosso, Riacho dos Cavalos, São Bento, belonging to micro Catolé do Rocha, and Pombal and
Sousa belonging to micro Sousa. Analyzing files Veterinarians enabled by MAPA (Ministry of
Agriculture, Livestock and Supply) and the monthly reports of the National Programme for
Control and Eradication of Brucellosis Animal (PNCEBT) between the years 1990 and 2010,
conducted by qualified Veterinarians . We collected data from 12 counties, and analyzed their
prevalence and diagnosis of infectious diseases, through the test of AAT (buffered acidified
antigen) for the Bovine Brucellosis and Simple Test for Cervical animals tested for Bovine
Tuberculosis. The results showed that the frequencies in Belém do Brejo do Cruz it was in 1,38 –
5,40%, in Bom Sucesso 1,58 – 8%, Brejo do Cruz 2,59 – 7,89%, Brejo dos Santos 1,81 – 6,45%,
Catolé do Rocha 0,66 – 4,16%, Jericó 0,86 -7,14, Mato Grosso 1,39 – 3,84%, Pombal 3,22 –
13,75%, Riacho dos Cavalos 0,69 – 7,14%, São Bento 0,82 – 5,80%, São José do Brejo do Cruz
0,57 – 4,05%, Sousa 0,69 – 8,78%. With the existence of positive cattle to Brucella abortus and
Mycobacterium bovis, demonstrating the risk that these animals can serve as sources of infection
from bacteria to other cattle and to man. So there must be an awareness of veterinarians,
clarifying the importance of biosecurity measures and the consequences caused by brucellosis
and tuberculosis. It should be noted also the importance of following the actions contemplated in
PNCEBT. To the better compreension of the diseases on world.
