Resumo:
Conducted a comparative study between the horses of the Mounted Police Squad,
which will be identified as GP group (platoon) in the city of Caico-RN and equine traction,
identified as GT group (traction), the city of Patos-PB. Compared management, nutrition and
animal health in relation to parasitism. There was a clinical, applied a questionnaire to
owners, parasitological examinations were performed before and after worming of animals in
both groups. There were 20 animals in each group horses were crossbred GP quarter mile,
with an average age of 8 years, with hay and fed commercial feed and were followed daily by
an attendant. GT used in horses, mules and donkeys with an average age of 7 years, native
pasture and fed corn grain. For parasite examination method was used by Gordon and
Whitlock in both groups. In horses the GP only one animal was infested unlike the other
group in which all animals were infected with Strongylus dominance of the genre with an
average of 3522 per animal OPG. With the results obtained in this study, it is clear that
integrated control measures should be taken to minimize the GT parasitism in the city of
Patos-PB.
