Resumo:
SARS-CoV-2 infection emerged in 2019, when Chinese health authorities reported
cases of pneumonia of unknown origin, which was later confirmed as COVID-19. Since its
emergence, the disease has infected thousands of people around the world, being decreed by
the WHO as a pandemic at the end of February 2020. Bearing this in mind, the objective of
this work is to carry out an integrative review of the literature evidencing nutritional therapy
in post-covid 19 rehabilitation. The present study is an integrative systematic review of the
literature, using the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses
(PRISMA) protocol. The search and data collection process was carried out on 5 different
platforms (Google Academic, Periodical CAPES, Pubmed/MEDLINE, LILACS and Science
direct), from September to November 2021, using the Health Descriptors of the following
keywords : Infection from coronavirus; Nutritional Therapy; Nutritional Recommendations;
Nutritional Assistance; Hospital Discharge; Nutritional Recovery and Nutrition Sciences.
Initially, 761 scientific articles were found and reduced to 14 after reading the abstract and
title, eligibility, inclusion and exclusion criteria, evaluation by known methodological tools
and reading in full. The 14 articles selected for review were published in 10 different
countries covering the following topics: screening for risk of malnutrition, post-ICU
nutritional assessment, energy, macronutrients and micronutrients, oral supplements and
treatment of post-covid sequelae. In this way, it is observed that nutritional therapy is
important and decisive for the patient who is in recovery after having contracted COVID-19,
and must be well planned and adequate for each reality, in addition to taking into account the
role of the entire team. multiprofessional involved. Nutrition directly contributes to the relief
and treatment of symptoms of the still little studied "post-covid syndrome" ensuring quality of
life and adequate recovery of the patient. Well-targeted nutritional therapy, taking into
account the sequelae resulting from the infection, together with multidisciplinary treatment,
enable the necessary recovery, avoiding major consequences. As it is a recent issue, the post-
covid is still little discussed and for this reason an exhaustive research was not carried out in
this review. That said, the role and importance of nutrition in the management and nutritional
assistance in patient rehabilitation is noted, as well as the need for specific studies and
guidelines addressing this issue.
