Comportamento alimentar de ovinos Santa Inês alimentados com diferentes proporções de feno de capim buffel (Cenchrus ciliaris L.) e de jurema preta (Mimosa tenuiflora [Willd.] Poiret) no Semi-Árido Paraibano.

Abstract

Feeding behavior of Santa Inês sheep fed with different proportions of buffel grass (Cenchrus ciliaris L.) and jurema preta (Mimosa tenuiflora [Willd.] Poiret) hay in the semi-arid region of Paraiba. The objective of this study was to evaluate the eating behavior of Santa Inês sheep fed different proportions of hay Buffel grass (Cenchrus ciliaris L.) and Jurema Preta (Mimosa tenuiflora [Willd. Poiret]) in feedlot. Was studied 28 Santa Inês sheep, male, with initial body weight of 20 kg. The experimental diet consisted of 40% concentrate (corn and soybean meal) and 60% forage based hay buffel grass and/or jurema preta. The feed behavior was performed by visual observations taken every five minutes during 48 hours. With the objective to estimate the time spent by animals in the activities during his confinement in the trough (eating, drinking, ruminating and idle). When evaluating treatments in accordance with the behavior activities, note that the time spent for the activities of eating, drinking and ruminating, there was no statistical difference. In the idle standing treatment with 67% hay Buffel, was that the animals dedicated more time to this activity, and treatment with 100% hay Buffel dedicated more time to idle activity lying. Demonstrating that the inclusion of hay Jurema Preta in the feed only influenced the behaviors of standing and lying idle.
