Abstract:
Basic concepts on usual materials in concrete have been reviewed in this work.
Effects on different large aggregates, but usual previous treatment, have also been
evaluated. Physical and minéralogie properties of concretes are entered deeply into this
experimental study. Slump-tests have been put to pratice too. Compression tests and splinting tests have been applied to evaluate influence on concretes made from different admixtures and submited to different curing conditions. Water/ ciment rates are variable, and water/dry materials, sand/aggregates and large aggregates/ aggregates rates are unchangeable. Lateritic aggregates not previously saturated and not previously washed put out of the way the probable bad behavior of concretes made with it. For same admixtures, lateritic concretes have indicated smaller fluidity than granitic one, and
in adittion to that, quick reduction of it. Cylindrical specimens with 10 cm x 20 cm sizes have been employed. Splinting tests have showed high complexity on their properties. The cement hydration reaction at ripe ages of lateritic concretes, especially in ordinary curing way, is very sensitive to high water/cement rate.
