Résumé:
The objective was to evaluate serum concentrations for calcium, phosphorus and magnesium
collected from two different points of blood punctures in dairy goats receiving different levels
of Lithothamnium calcareum at diets. The research was conducted at Fazenda NUPEÁRIDO
of Health Center and Rural Technology Federal University of Campina Grande, Campus of
Patos, Paraíba. Were used eight crossbred dairy goats breeds American Alpine x Saanen x
Toggenburg, multiparous with an average production of 2,0 kg day-1 milk, distributed in two
Latin squares (4x4), where each square consisted of four animals, four treatments and four
periods of 20 days. Treatments were determined by of Lithothamnium calcareum
concentrations in the diet, T1 = 0,24%; T2 = 0,61%; T3 = 0,99% and T4 = 1,37% of L.
calcareum. Considering the blood samples taken in the jugular vein, the different levels of
Lithothamnium calcareum did not promote significant effect (p>0,05) on phosphorus serum
concentrations, averaging 4,548 mg dL-1. However, promoted increase (p<0,05) in serum
calcium and magnesium. At the averages for the serum collected by venipuncture of the
mammary vein was observed significant difference (p<0,05) in calcium levels for fed goats
with Lithothamnium calcareum, however the phosphorus and magnesium were not significant
between treatments (p>0,05). The use of Lithothamnium calcareum, up 1,367% in the diet
does not affect the health of lactating goats, not interfering in the physiological parameters.
The Lithothamnium calcareum promoted increase in serum levels of calcium and magnesium
in lactating goats.
