Resumo:
The B vitamins are water soluble and has important action in hematopoietic processes,
maintenance of the nervous system, energy production, growth and development of the animal.
Therefore, given the context, the aim of this work was to study the physiological mechanisms
of B vitamins and therapeutic actions of its use in the treatment of a dog with suggestive
diagnosis of brucellosis, attended the Medical Clinic of Small Animals (CMPA), the University
Veterinary hospitalProf. Dr. Ivon Macêdo Tabosa, UFCG, Patos-PB. Upon arriving at the
CMPA was accompanied by a wandering dog, mongrel, adult and trampling history; physical
examination the patient had a level of consciousness responsive to stimuli, quadriplegia and
lateral position. The ocular and oral mucosa were congested, lymph nodesreactive popliteal,
body condition score 35% degree of dehydration, and the opaque. Evidenced in the clinical
follow-up increased respiratory rate (72mov / min), Rectal temperature (39,8ºC) and systolic
blood pressures (153mm / Hg) and diastolic pressure (76mm / Hg). It was collected urine, blood
and blood count and serum chemistry. One of the diagnostic suspicion, after evaluation, would
be to be distemper, however, over a few days, ruled out the hypothesis, since neurological
symptoms began to appear stable and proprioceptive stimuli applied in the dog gradually
showed responses. As a result of the progression of an inflammatory condition of testicular
region with increased bilateral volume asymmetry, dermatitis scrotum, firm consistency and
swollen testicles diagnosis was then suggestive for brucellosis since there was no possibility of
performing confirmatory test for brucellosis by serology. Based on symptoms and examination
resultsThe treatment was with antibiotics (doxycycline 100mg) associated with administration
of 5000mg Citoneurin, Organoneurocerebral Gaballon and which has in its composition
vitamin B complex in WBC was observed on neutrophils and monocyte leukocytosis, indicating
that the animal had infectious, suggestive of bacterial diseases. was recordedElevated
concentrations of serum aspartate aminotransferase (90.8 U / L) and glucose (118.5 mg / dL).
The results of urinalysis protein and glucose values were above referenced parameters. After
associated with antibiotic therapy vitamins leukocyte count was done, and having reversal of
values for the normal and recovery orchitis, was held orchiectomy. The dog had full recovery
of neurological picture, noting that the use of antibiotics associated with B vitamins assist in
the recovery of this animal.
