Resumo:
The present work aims to present a brief survey of the main diseases that can affect the
ruminant digestive system and its main laboratory alterations through the ruminal liquid
analysis results between 2008-2017. The examination of ruminal fluid is a simple procedure,
which is aimed at monitoring the functions of the gastric compartments. From it can be
diagnosed diseases that affect the digestive tract. Thus, small changes in diet may lead to pH
ruminal variation, leading to imbalance of bacterial flora and protozoa, and, consequently,
causing some gastric pathology. The research was carried out at the University Veterinary
Hospital (HVU) -UFCG of the city of Patos / PB, in order to investigate the main diseases of
ruminant pre-stomachs and their main causes. The work showed that ruminal conditions are
present throughout the year, with a peak during the dry season (specifically in November),
probably due to food shortages and high concentrate supply.
