Resumen:
This research will deal with the processes of reframing and dealing with oneself from the
perspective of Foucault (2006), by John Lennon who, with the influence of the avant-garde,
experimental and feminist work of Yoko Ono, enabled a process of rediscovery of the self by
John Lennon where you can see his changes in many of his songs. These changes of self will
be analyzed through six songs, divided into three periods of the history of John Lennon that
will help us to visualize the changes of a lyrical self, sometimes sexist and misogynist,
sometimes feminist and pacifist. Therefore, feminism here will be worked from the perspective
of Hooks (2020), and the songs will be analyzed in their triple nature melody-letter-performance
with the theoretical contribution of Friedlander (2002) with the scheme entitled “Janela do
Rock” which it helps researchers for a more comprehensive analysis, and Napolitano (2002),
who proposes to study, in addition to also discussing the relationship between History and
Music and how to work them from the perspective of the historian. Therefore, John Lennon's
songs will be analyzed, such as Run For Your Life, or Woman, for example, among others,
over a period of time from 1968 to 1980 and his change in behavior and opinion towards
women.
