Résumé:
The extensive workload and studies associated with the pressure for an exacerbated
productivism and better grades have been generating illness among professors and students,
becoming a determining factor in the increase in the use of medication by them. The present
study aimed to verify the prevalence and factors associated with the use of medication by the
university community. Therefore, an integrative literature review was carried out, searching for
articles in national and international databases Electronic Libary Online (SciElo), Regional
Portal of the Virtual Health Library (BVS) and PubMed, between November 2021 and February
2022, published in the last 10 years. Sixteen articles were included, most of which addressed
selfmedication by students, whose most used drug classes were analgesics, antiinflammatory
and antipyretic, with a female prevalence. Finally, the lack of studies on the use of medicines
by teachers was noticed. The study made it possible to highlight the practice of selfmedication
in the university community, which leads to reflections on strategies that raise awareness and
rationalize the use of medicines, especially by students.
