Resumo:
Tales and stories are part of the social construction of the human being and are essential tools
for the propagation of teachings, experiences lived by ancestors, ways of survival, ritualistic
and cultural expressions, inherited. It is through the story that we are able to access dormant
spaces in our psyche, favoring an inner dialogue promoting the synchrony of body and mind,
and consequently, enjoying well-being. Contotherapy is a practice regulated by the Unified
Health System (SUS) through the Public Politics of Complementary and Integrative Therapies
and the provision of this unconventional medicine to the population favors the creation of
educational practices and research projects that aim to of academics, graduate professionals and
undergraduate health students in Integrative Therapies. Health narratives improve the physical
and mental aspects of individuals in health spaces, allowing them autonomy, freedom, and
appreciation of their cultural identities. to promote the mental and physical health of patients,
and how acting in this integrative practice can contribute to the training of health professionals.
The period of interest for researching the works was from 2007 to 2021 and a total of 18 articles
were found, 11 of which were included in this review. The studies showed the effectiveness in
clinical treatment using contotherapy, the quality of practices and methodologies used by the
professionals involved with individuals and the evidence of physical and mental improvement
of the participants of the practices after the interventions. Therefore, the practice of
contotherapy must be applied by health professionals based on multiprofessional cooperation
for the population of different ages and genders, in the most diverse spheres of care.
