Resumo:
The objective of this research was to analyze the practices of sustainable development carried
out by the Laginha community in the ZéMarcolino settlement, in the municipality of Prata-
PB. With a bibliographical study referencing several authors, stressing the concepts of
sustainable development, modern agriculture and solidarity economy. It was hoped to respond
to the problematic how to generate income and sustainable development in a regionofthe
Paraíba Semiarid. There are many difficulties for small farmers in the semi-arid region to
generate income in their localities without damaging the environment and practicing
sustainability in its triple that is to promote social, economic and environmental, promoting
the sustainability of the generation of the present as well as the future generation. Consonance
to sustainable development arises the familiar agriculture that is practiced by the farmers of
the small rural properties of Brazil where they plant crops for their consumptions and sell the
surplus, end up working with production without the use ofpesticidesand in smallscales.caring
for theresourcesBecausetheyunderstand that they can be without them if they do not take care
of themselves and work with solidary economy. In contrast, the issues of sustainability and
solidary economy arise the agribusiness that is an advance in the export and economic sector
and that increasingly seeks to control rural
areaswithVariousintensificationsofOfthepricemainly in the areas that are part of agribusiness
and consequently there have been several factors that are not favorable, such as the social and
environmental sector, the invasion of indigenous lands and the slave labor of agribusiness
workers.
