The current study had the objective of evaluate the knowledge of dentists of the
Family Health Strategy (FHS) in the city of Patos-PB, in patient care with arterial
hypertension (AH). It was an analytical cross-sectional study, in which structured
questionnaire was administered to 21 professionals from SFHs Patos-PB. Data were
analyzed from the bivariate descriptive and inferential statistics (chi-square and exact
tests Ficher). Of the participants, 85.7% could define hypertension, but only 44.4% of
them answered correctly, 95.2% answered correctly normal blood pressure value.
Dry mouth was the change caused by the use of antihypertensive most cited
(85.71%); Lidocaine was the anesthetic of choice (61.9%), the most frequently cited
drug interaction (48.6%) was the antihypertensive with NSAIDs and analgesics with
aspirin. Participate in the program Hiperdia 66.7% and 33.3% of respondents
reported measuring the pressure of patients depending on the anamnesis. Observed
statistical association between working elsewhere and set correctly HA (p = 0.006).
The professionals that participated in the study showed a relatively good knowledge,
performing a behavior compatible with what the literature suggests, but still need
more clarification on the subject, to supply their main difficulties.
