Résumé:
The CAD/CAM technology is causing a great and important evolution in the odontology
field. These acronyms refer to the American terms computer aided design/computer aided
manufacturing, which means ―Computer Aided Design (CAD) e Computer Aided
Manufacturing. (CAM)‖ in Portuguese, an advanced system that allows the production of
prosthesis based in the last generation 3D. One of the main objectives of this technology is the
simplification and optimization in the production of prothetic structures, and also the
production of structures with a high standard of quality and esthetics, in a personal and
planned way with digital precision. Among the CAD/CAM systems to the Odontology, we’re
going to emphasize in this piece of work the Cerec®, Procera®, Lava® and Everest®, where
the keywords were applied: DENTAL TECHNOLOGY, FIXED PARTIAL DENTURE and
ZIRCONIUM. Research articles, review of longitudinal studies and systematic review were
used. The work has as main goal to do a literary review about the available CAD/CAM
systems in the dentistry market, to understand such systems, their importance and contribution
to the modern odontology.
