Resumen:
Prevalence of accidents with sharps in the dental clinic of UFCG and in the basic health units of Patos - PB. Occupational Accidents are today in a very important factor and concern among the professionals exposed to this type of risk. In the field of dentistry, there is a wide variety of procedures with different levels of complexity, where there is a greater risk to occupational accidents. Objective: to evaluate the prevalence of accidents with needlestick material between teachers, students and technicians in oral health in dental clinic of the UFCG and basic health units in the city of Patos-PB. Methods: The study was collected through a questionnaire with thirteen objective questions. It has a sample of 142 (one hundred fortytwo) students, 21 (twenty one) teachers and 39 (thirty nine) technical oral health. Was asked to sign the Consent and informed. This study was approved by the Research Ethics Committee under paragraph CAAE: 30386814.3.0000.5181. Results: it was observed that 71.4 of the professors, the students 60.6 and 51, 3dos TSB accidents with perfurocortante material, where 20 teachers, students and 15 58.9 TSB needed interrupt routine, showing the high occurrence of this type of accident. Conclusion: considering all Needlestick accidents are far more common than envisioned by many, being more prevalent among teachers and technicians in oral health when compared to students, perhaps by the frequency of exposure to risk. So that it is necessary to raise awareness of caution and precision during realization of procedures and washing of material, avoiding further damage to the operator, patient and dental team.
