Resumo:
Among the many plants used in folk medicine, Anacardium occidentale stands out.
L., which is a plant belonging to the Anacardiaceae family. Many therapeutic properties
are known, such as: antitussive, antisyphilitic, diuretic and healing, in addition to
antimicrobial. Several pharmacological actions are attributed to the stem bark, deserving
highlight the healing activity. The present study aimed to develop a gel
containing glycolic extract of Anacardium occidentale L. with healing activity, through
of physical-chemical and microbiological quality control. Two gels were prepared, Gel 1 and
Gel 2, composed of Carbopol® 940, propylene glycol, glycerin, EDTA, nipagin, the
Anacardiun occidentale L. glycolic extract incorporated into the base gel. The gels were
evaluated on days 1, 20, 25, 35. The physical-chemical quality control was carried out through
the determination of pH and verification of physical and visual aspects, such as change in
staining or precipitation and spreadability test. The formulations showed a pH between
6.0 and 8.0 respectively, normal and homogeneous appearance and characteristic odor, being possible
pay attention to the color change of gel 2 after 20 days of study. Gel 2 showed a
superior and more homogeneous spreadability. As for the counting test
viable microorganisms, carried out for microbiological quality control, was proven
that the formulations are within acceptable microbial limits. based on the
results of this study, the formulations showed to have physicochemical and
acceptable microbiological tests, ruling out the possibility of reformulation.
