the increase in the number of car accidents, accidents at school and in sports
practice, along with the growing violence among the most common etiologic
factors. The male is still the most affected by this type of trauma, the treatment
consists of reimplantation and whose prognosis is dependent on an immediate care
for the victim, being the storage means of the avulsed tooth a factor of utmost
importance.Based on this assertion, a structured and standardized questionnaire was
developed and implemented with 81 students of Physical Education (PE) degree
from an institution of higher education on dental avulsion, through which 39%
answered correctly what would be the tooth avulsion; 91% never received
information about patient care victim of such trauma and 35% said that the election
procedure in such cases would be the restoration of the tooth. Also as a result, 78%
of respondents reported being necessary the use of the “teeth guard” during sports.
Based on the results it is concluded that PE students require a more comprehensive
understanding of the subject since the trauma and thus the tooth avulsion is common
practice to occur in sports activities; making it essential to carry out educational
campaigns orally or in printed material, elucidating the proper handling in cases of
