The child victim of violence in the home and its repercussions in Pediatric Dentistry - case report. Acts of violence against children can result in physical, psychological, developmental damage, depression, anxiety, among many other factors. Family represents the main role in the development of children and, when acts of violence against them occurs at home, it is indispensable to identify and search for a solution from the part of society. It is the dentist’s duty to be able to identify signs of physical and psychological aggressions in children, since a large part of the aggressions occur in the face, head and neck region and may be associated with non-nutritive sucking habits, especially when they are incompatible with the patient’s age. This study aimed to report a clinical case of a 10-years-old child who had been victim of physical and psychological abuse by mother and maternal grandmother and underwent interceptive treatment at the Universidade Federal de Campina Grande. Stress, in case of children’s victim of violence, may lead them to develop nonnutritive sucking habits that need to be treated in the multiprofessional sphere. Persistent non-nutritive and deleterious sucking habits may derive from the presence of violence against children in their homes, causing various physical and/or psychological impairments and may cause harmful oral alterations to the child.
