Abstract:
Lithium disilicate metal-ceramic and metal-free crowns: a literature review. Due to problems such as caries, fractures, changes in the shape and dental losses, which directly interfere with the patient's physical and emotional well-being, the demand for dental rehabilitations with impeccable aesthetics, strength and durability, has been increasing. In view of the above, this study presents, through a literature review, the mechanical and aesthetic properties of Metaloceramic dentures and Metal Free of Lithium Dissilicate, exhibiting its main advantages, disadvantages and comparison between the two types. The Metal Free and Metaloceramic dental arches are both of a good quality option. Considering what was exposed, this study presents, through literature revision, the mechanic and aesthetic properties of Metaloceramic and Metal free dentures made of Lithium Dissilicate, showing their advantages, disadvantages, and a comparison between them. It was used as basis, scientific articles which were published in the databases: Medline (Medical Literature Analysis and Retrieval System Online), PubMed (service of the US National Library of Medicine), BBO (Brazilian Library of Dentistry), SciELO (Scientific Electronic Library Oline), Lilacs (Latin American and Caribbean Literature in Health Sciences) and Books. The referred works fit to the period between 2007 and 2019, except for classical studies necessary for the determination of concepts presented in this work. It was excluded articles written in languages other than Portuguese and literature review in the same conditions. At the end of this study it was noted that the Metal Free dentures made of Lithium Dissilicate can be an excellent option for replacing the Metaloceramic dentures, for it shows resistance to fracture and wear, favorable marginal adjustment and an aesthetic resemblance to the dental structure.
