Résumé:
The detailed learning about the anatomy of the head and neck enables the
professional to identify anatomical structures and perform surgical procedures
with minimal risk. The arterial irrigation of this region is huge and unpredictable
due to its anatomical variations. The aim of this study was to review the
literature on the arterial irrigation of the head and neck region. Data were
collected, including literature review papers and case reports. The terms
“Anatomy; Blood supply; Face; and Mouth” were searched in PUBMED
(www.pubmed.com) and SCIELO (www.scielo.org) databases. Out of 122
articles, only 22 were used in this study. It was concluded that, due to the
scarce information about the anatomical structures related to orofacial irrigation,
it is relevant to create a study instrument to improve the search for this
knowledge.
