Influence of dental trauma on the quality of life of children aged 8 to 10 years old from private schools in the city of Patos - PB. Traumas are caused by the action of mechanical agents, which has exceed the tissues’ resistance, they can affect negatively quality of life children. Objectives: To evaluate dental traumas influence on quality of life children’s from 08 to 10 years old, in private schools in Patos-PB. Material and methods: This was an observational, quantitative, analytical and a cross-sectional study, with a sample of 384 children. A pilot study was executed to test the methodology, and the data colletion was accomplished through the application of a CPQ8-10 questionnaire, later an intraoral clinical examination was performed on the children, implementing two calibrated examiners (Kappa intraexaminer 0,86; Kappa Interexaminer 0,84), to analyse the data, it was applied the SPSS 8.0 version program, using descriptive and bivariate inferential statistical techniques. Results: The male gender showed a higher trauma prevalence (37,4%), as well as the age of 10 (41,4%), the dental trauma prevalence was of (31,8%), in which the incisive were the most affected group of teeth (96,72%), the most frequent type of trauma was the dental enamal fracture, and the highest prevalence of the sections in children with traumas was of low impact, except for the section 4, with a CPQ8-10 12,66 rate. Conclusion: Children with dental trauma had an impact on quality of life in all domains, although without statistical association, it is suggested that more studies be developed on the theme so that dental trauma prevention strategies are created.
