Resumen:
Chitosan and glucosamine are naturally sourced materials that have several features that allow
you not to use it as a suture, so they aim to evaluate the tissue healing in the skin of mice
using a glucosamine chitosan thread, thirty-six Wistar rats (Rattus novergicus) were divided
into four groups according to the material used for suturing the skin, being group Q
(chemotherapy thread), group QG (glucosamine-associated chemotherapy thread), group C (
commercial catgut® wire) and SS group (without suture). All animals are part of two groups,
with 2 longitudinal incisions of 2 cm being made in the dorsal region, one incision in the right
side represented in one group and in the other left side. different time periods (7, 14 and 28
days) after suture, then healing tissues were removed for histological evaluation, no
macroscopic examination found edema in animals in groups C and SS, and a lower
inflammatory and faster healing in groups Q and QG In the histological evaluation the
intensity of the inflammatory infiltrate was higher in group C (p = 0.042), and the granulation
tissue reaction (p = 0.015) and the process repair (p = 0.003) were the first in group C with
significant difference in the QG and SS groups. The results indicate that the chitosan thread
associated with glucosamine, as an alternative for use in surgical practice.
