Resumen:
Structure of private dental offices in Patos - Paraíba for medical emergencies. A medical emergency is an acute medical problem that needs to be dealt with quickly to not result in death of the affected individual. No dental procedure is more important than maintaining the patient's life, so the dentist and his team must be prepared to recognize and act on any event that occurs in the dental office, while a specialized medical team to reach the place. Therefore, this study aimed to evaluate the clinical staff training and the structure of private dental clinics in the city of Patos-Paraíba facing medical emergencies. This research it is a cross-sectional quantitative study performed through an anonymous questionnaire and applied to 26 (twenty-six) dental surgeons responsible for dental offices in the city of Patos-Paraiba. As a result, the preparation of the dentistry team (dental surgeons and dental assistants) of the offices did not show satisfactory results. Only the answer to the question whether all office staff knew the number to call in an emergency was positive, around 100%, with 96.2% (n = 25) of the participants answering "yes". When asked about emergency drugs in their offices, only 03 (11.5%) mentioned having some kind of emergency equipment, not having any complete emergency kit. About the drugs, none of the offices had a satisfactory diversity of emergency drugs. Through data analysis it was observed that none of the dental offices (clinical staff and infrastructure) had ideal conditions to safely and effectively to faced eventual medical emergencies that may occur at this location.
