Importância e influência da estética dental relacionada à saúde biológica e social do indivíduo.

Abstract

The standards of beauty established by culture make the search for aesthetic treatments increase, since there are psychological implications that influence the resourcefulness of the individual, thus resulting in the evolution or involution of being. Objective: to evaluate the relevance and influence that aesthetic dentistry presents to the health fields of the individual. Methodology: The sample consisted of 150 dentistry patients, aged 18 years and older, of both genders, performed between November 2018 and March 2019. The Socio-demographic, Psychosocial Impact of Dental Esthetics and Self-Esteem Scale of Rosenberg adapted. At the end, the means of the results were made to find out if there is a psychosocial impact of the dental esthetics and if the patients had low self-esteem. Results: Of these 150 participants, 103 (68.7%) were of the female gender and 47 (31.3%) were of the masculine gender. When questioned about age the majority presented having 39 or more years 48 (32%). The data collected regarding schooling resulted in a majority of 39 (26%) for participants who had incomplete upper course. When asked about per capita income, the majority (98, 65.4%) of study participants reported having up to one minimum wage. For the Psychosocial Impact of Dental Esthetics questionnaire, the mean was 28.03 and in the self-esteem questionnaire the mean was 23.36. Conclusion: dental aesthetics had a great psychosocial impact on patients' routine and because of this self-esteem was low according to the results obtained.
