Main diseases of the geriatric dog - case series of consultations at the Veterinary Hospital of the Federal University of Campina Grande, Patos - PB in the biennium 2007 - 2008. Research realized in Veterinary Hospital of the Health and Rural Technology Center of the Campina Grande University - in the campus from Patos –PB, in 2007-2008, trough the survey of the main geriatrics diseases in canines, and the aim is to earn the casuistic knowledge of the pathologies most commons in the practice of the medical clinic, due the complexity it is necessary more clearances in this way of the clinic because there is no specialization in veterinary geriatrics. Although it has been dedicated great importance to the ancient patience, it is necessary for the veterinary to know the senile alterations, and so count with the resources from the advance in the preventive veterinary medicine, as accurate exams to assist the diagnosis and the most modern treatments, offering conditions to a better life expectative. It was effectuated a synthesis of the knowledge by a specialized overview, besides the survey of the occurrences and the registered data in clinic archives. It was registered, during the studied period, 2893 assistances, for different breeds, the both sex and for all the ages. With a geriatric occurrence corresponding to 223 (7,70%) of the assistances, it was verified a casuistic of 161 (72,19%) registers in ancient canines. It was observed that neoplasia was the major prevalence, being mammary neoplasia the highest incident, presenting the first major casuistic in females with no defined breed, and the second in Poodle females; the other pathologies most frequent in the survey were: diseases caused by parasites into the blood, periodontitis, dermatopathies, pyometra and the cardiopathies.
