Resumen:
Chronic diseases are the leading cause of mortality in the world, generating large
impact on costs of public health systems. Most patients suffering from these diseases
are treated in a self-managed way, following medical recommendations at
home. Even so, healthcare professionals from different specialties work together
to monitor patients during all stages of a long-term treatment, including: definition
of diet, psychological support, physical activity, medication control, etc. This
work addresses the lack of computational solutions to assist in mediating conflicts
that occur between self-managed treatment plans while a chronic disease evolves.
Each professional defines the treatment plan from the perspective of your specialty,
but when analysed together, the overall plan is sometimes conflicting. This
work presents an agent-based solution for conflict mediation of treatment plans of
chronic patients, defined by different professionals at different times of treatment,
while still maintaining consistency between the plans while the disease evolves.
In this solution, software agents represent patients and healthcare professionals,
aiming at the definition of treatment plans which are appropriate for patients and
compatible with healthcare rules. This work presents a formal specification of the
system, a web architecture for its implementation and protocols to mediate the
interaction among agents. To complete the work, an experimental evaluation has
been performed to evaluate the conflict identification model in the treatment of
chronic patients.
