Résumé:
The production of wind power in Brazil has been growing more and more, especially after 2001,
which has expanded in the Northeast region, moreover inside the state of Paraíba. In this
context, the present work aims to analyze the socio-spatial impacts caused by the wind farm
Complexo Eólico Santa Luzia in the state of Paraíba. To do that, a brief theoretical analysis was
carried out on the subject through articles, books and monographs, in addition to an empirical
study with documentary research, photographic records and semi-structured interviews with
agents who participate in the above mentioned wind farm. Thus, among the results we verified
that there are socio-spatial impacts with changes in access roads and road improvements; lack
of communication between companies and residents, contributing to land tenure instability;
increased income for residents who own leased land, but with the increase of social inequalities;
low-paying temporary jobs for local residents and higher-skilled jobs for outsiders; increase in
deforestation and decrease in existing animal species, such as bees, among others. In this way,
the discourse of using clean energy becomes mistaken in the face of the impacts found in this
wind farm and in others installed in the Brazilian Northeast.
