The inventory show themselves as a judicial documentation capable of radiate outward many narratives and tips of approach in the historiography. Found in the archive of the
Second Civil Court Dr. Ferreira Junior, situated in Cajazeiras, Paraíba, this historical source has served as base for the researches about material culture, offering informations and elements that could contribute to the development to the history of the high outback in the nineteenth century, between 1876 and 1890, in the state of Paraíba. As well, the inventory add to the bibliography found and supported at the social culture history, has given elements that shows and involves the living in houses of the backcountry belonged to the local elite, such as knowing about the fisical structure of the home and the relationships settled there. This paper aims to propose exercising the act to read and analyze the home as an document which offers aspects that can distinguish their owners for what they possess, the dynamics involving the family groups and their routine activities, all based in the material culture found in inventories. Being an goal for this paper to reach as well, the spatiality exploration and the context that embraces the material culture in question, observing the city of Cajazeiras in economic, social and culture aspects.
