Abstract:
The presence of children in the cangaço was not possible, because of conditions in which the cangaceiros lived in caatinga, but they were present, even if for a short period. A phenomenon that was made possible by the insertion of women in Lampião's gang starting in 1930.The present work aims to understand the abandonment of children and, consequently, the fate of the sons and daughters of the cangaceiros as adults. The research was conducted through the theoretical perspective of Cultural History, thus, guided by the questions raised by historians and historians such as Peter Burke (2012), utilizing bibliographic references by Adriana Negreiros (2018), Nadja Claudino (2020), Wagner Gutierrez Barreira (2018) and Maria Luiza Marcílio (2016),but the main sources were the interviews conducted through YouTube channels with descendants of the "cangaceiros" and "cangaceiras"; whose objective is to try to understand the Childhoodof these children who were abandoned.
