Abstract:
Water is the essential element to guarantee the quality of life and also the development of socioeconomic activities, consequently, its lack causes situations of conflict and vulnerability. In semi-arid regions, as is the case of much of the Brazilian Northeast, scarcity problems constitute a major challenge for which government interventions and policies are needed. The construction of large water works is one of the options widely adopted by these policies in order to solve the supply needs. The main theme of the research is to describe the main uses and forms of consumption of water from Açude Paraíso. The study involved bibliographic, documentary and field research where photos and a detailed analysis of the region were taken. The results obtained during the research showed the need for a restructuring in the planning of water distribution to residences and rural properties around the dam, aiming at
thus, contributing to minimize the waste of water while maintaining its quality, consequently improving the quality of life of the population that uses this resource.
