The prevalence of brucelose for Brucella canis was investigated in dogs of the city of Campina Grande, Paraiba, PB, Brazil, and carried through a study of possible factors of risk associated with the soropositividade for B. canis. 170 samples of sanguineous serum of dogs carried through in the month of September of 2000 had been examined. The imunodifusao in gel of agar (IDGA), using antigen of lipopolissacarfdeos and proteins of Brucella ovis. The
prevalence of B. canis was of 2,55%. Analysis statistics did not disclose significant differences between the studied variable. The epidemiologic profile of brucelose canine for B. canis showed that in the city of Campina Grande the
infectlum occurs in equal conditions dogs without sex difference, age and type of handling.
