Movimento comunitário em Campina Grande: trajetória e memória da União Campinense das Equipes Sociais (1950/1970).

Abstract

This paper aims to examine historically the Sociedades de Amigos de Bairros - SABs and the União Campinense das Equipes Sociais - UCES, in which we seek to understand the workings and the plots of these socio-political entities in the field of social movements and the particular way in the community movement of Campina Grande between the decades from 1950 to 1970. We aim to make a discussion of the history of the community movement in Campina Grande trying to identify its root with the Social Service course with the Catholic Church and the government. We work with the evidentiary paradigm interface with the oral history, marked out by the social history based in Thompson. The research is limited from the analyzes of social issues in the city and some forms of social assistance, as well as the presence of technical social care in poor neighborhoods in the city promoting the emergence of grassroots organizations based on the experience of community as the SFNs and later the CUST. We bring in this work the history of the community movement in Campina Grande in the 1960s and their interphases with the political situation demonstrating the links between the social movement and the Military Dictatorship in the city through the representative organizations of the neighborhood. Thus, we emphasize the importance of this research whose contributions are relevant to academic studies related to social movements, as well as the movement itself, consisting of another look at its history and historicity enabling the understanding of the history of Campina Grande from the organization of its inhabitants.
