Abstract:
Studies in the area of linguistic variation, today, cover most of the observable phenomena of everyday life, with regard to orality. This work questions whether the regional identity of a people admits to be portrayed through the written representation of the accent and linguistic expressions without raising the stigma of what is right or wrong in speaking of a certain region. Therefore, questions such as the following are part of the discussion proposed in the present study: The identification that many find in the publications of humorous pages raises which important debates about the regional, linguistic and cultural identity of the people of Ceará? How does this debate reflect on the study of the theme in the classroom? What real factors promote the comic coming from publications that link “Cearês” as the main dialect? As a general objective, this work sought to understand the marks of linguistic identity and variation, arranged in a context
regional, existing in the statements of the selected fanpages. This study is anchored
in the contributions of Bagno (1999; 2002; 2003; 2007); BortoniRicardo (2004; 2005); Cascudo (2015); Labov (2008); Silva Neto (19521957; 1957), among others. The research method used is considered qualitative, together with an analysis of the chosen publications, in view of the processes that involve it, and is of a bibliographic nature. This study turns to the concepts of linguistic variation and identity in order to establish an overview of the theme, so that through this, the debate established within the sociolinguistic concepts that interconnect these two themes, thus enabling the development of a discussion that allows to punctuate the sociolinguistic phenomena existing in the construction of the representation of the dialect "Cearês" or "Cearensese" arranged in the chosen media material. The analysis of the material will follow the premises of the study of texts and statements, contemplating the concepts, previously punctuated, about linguistic variability and identity issues.
