Résumé:
The process of acquiring reading and writing usually occurs in childhood, through literacy practices at school. The individual starts to have contact with the written code and becomes familiar with it, as the school years progress. Thus, it is necessary to continue this student reading training throughout elementary school, given that the development of reading practices improves over time. Therefore, this work seeks as a general objective: to investigate school literacy practices from the work with the news genre, for the development of a more proficient reading teaching. As for the specific objectives, it intends to: investigate about reading conceptions, from the perspective of school literacy, discuss methodologies for a more fruitful teaching of reading in Portuguese language classes and reflect on evaluation practices in reading teaching. The methodology adopted was bibliographic research with a qualitative approach, according to Prodanov and Freitas (2013). The main authors that support these discussions are:
Soares (2009; 2017), Rojo (2015), Kleiman (2005) and Bakhtin (1997), among other authors. As a result, we emphasize the importance of working continuously with reading throughout elementary school II, since reading training is a process linked to literacy practices, which can significantly contribute to a contextualized teaching practice, thus improving , the disposition, pleasure and performance of students/readers in their reading activities.
