Manifestação da sombra em O caso da foto: uma leitura psicossemiótica.

Abstract

Discursive semiotics, developed by A. J. Greimas and his collaborators, provides a theoretical-methodological framework that aims at the construction of meaning. Starting from a generative path of meaning, this semiotics seeks to see the meaning(s) in the text, it seeks to understand what the text says and how it says it. In this direction, aiming to carry out an interdisciplinary reading, based on this semiotics, making use of Jungian analytical psychology to deepen the meaning(s), we seek to know how the manifestation of the shadow archetype occurs in the short story O caso da foto. With this in mind, we mainly aim to carry out an interdisciplinary reading of the short story The Case of the Photo with a view to the perception of the manifestation of the shadow. Therefore, we discuss the theoretical-methodological proposals of discursive semiotics developed by A. J. Greimas and his collaborators; we reflect on the conception of shadow in Jungian theory as an interdisciplinary proposal for reading popular narratives; and we highlight the manifestations of the shadow in the short story O caso da foto. We are based on discursive semiotics, which seeks to identify and analyze logical-mantic engenderings that go beyond the formal structure of the sentence (SARFATI, 2010). In interface, we approach Jungian psychology, which investigates the archetypes of the collective unconscious, universal images that exist since the most primitive times (JUNG, 2000), one of these archetypes being the shadow. Added to these systematizations, we have considerations about the popular story, a true framework for manifestations of the collective psyche (LIMA, 2011). The methodology used is that of discourse analysis, since semiotics was configured as one of the possible discourse analyses, as it presents a generative path of meaning, proposed by Greimas and Courtés (2016), in which there is a succession of levels, each with its description and explanation of how a text is produced and interpreted. As for the approach to the problem, this is a qualitative research, as it takes into account the dynamic relationship between the real and the subjective world (PRODANOV; FREITAS, 2013). The corpus consists of an oral narrative, O caso da foto, told by a resident enunciator from São José do Belmonte-PE, and was selected from a universe of 26 oral narratives from the personal collection of the supervisor of this work. The criteria that we developed as facilitators for the exercise of analysis as a reading proposal are: 1) Does the short story O caso da foto present manifestations of the shadow? And linked to this criterion a second 2) What are these manifestations of the shadow and how are they characterized? We highlight as results the manifestation of the shadow at the moment when the actor husband is taken by a brutality when killing his wife, emerging an unknown side of him. Furthermore, the shadow also shows itself when he projects his guilt onto his dead wife.
