The aim of this research was to compare the effects of anesthetics associations acepromazme/tiletamine-zolazepam and xilazina/ketamine associated in anesthesia epidural with the lidocaine in cats submitted to penectomy, evaluated during 75minutes (T-15, TO, T15, T30 and T75) according to cardiac and respiratory frequency, body temperature, duration and quality of anesthesia. Ten male cats of different breeds, 3.9±1.9 years old -and3,6±0,6kg body weight were purchased from the Veterinary Hospital of Universidade Federal de Campina Grande. Cats were randomized in two
groups GXC and GAZT. Cats from GAZT group were given acepromazine (0.5mg/kg, IM). zolazepam - tiletamine association (5mg/kg, IM) and epidural injection (lidocaine 2%, 0.22 ml/kg) without vasoconstrictor. Cats from GXC group were given xilazine (1 mg/kg, IM), and ketamine (7 mg/kg,IM), and epidural injection (lidocaine 2% 0.22 ml/kg). Cardiac rate varied in all times evaluated between the groups. GXC group showed reduction in cardiac rate since TO. Respiratory rate in the T15 varied between the groups. GAZT group showed reduction in respiratory rate in T15, T30 and T45 Body temperature in GXC group showed reduction in T15, T30 and T45 in comparison to the GAZT group. In conclusion, low doses of dissociative anesthesia in association to epidural anesthesia can be performed safety decreasing the costs of the anesthesia and promoting a safe and efficient procedure. The GAZT protocol has more efficient than GXC.
