Resumo:
The interrelationship between literature and history gain strength in the wake of the twentieth
century to century, with discussion on the possibilities of bringing these disciplines acquired
breath and centrality, and the way we do science, typical of the nineteenth century with his
lust for method and the absolute truth, crumbles due to the emergence of new approaches to
real-which take into consideration the interface with other areas of knowledge in order to
access various approaches to the real. Narrative among others, the story distinguishes itself,
however, specifies the relationship it has with the truth, as she has, in fact, the claim to refer
to a past that actually existed. What then can, thereafter, to differentiate the plot historical
novel and the plot? To the horror of those who conceive science as a place of certainty, this
text reflects on the tensions surrounding the historical narrative and the eternal lure of the
exercise of creative writing about those who lapidam the writing of history. As such, literary
history and literary creation in this cross, sharing the paths imagery of João Guimarães
Rosa. The author's stories have mining as one of its narrative elements more prominent
presence in space. It is from this perspective present in the narratives I propose to analyze the
work, focusing on the ambivalence between the urban and rural spaces (interior), and its
importance to the construction work while reading the narrative about the formation of
Brazil. For this reading will be privileged social and historical aspects that the book presents
not only the novel as well as the act of his writing. The presence of space in the novel,
especially in your relationship ambivalence between urban and rural, may indicate that the
crossings of the hinterland rosianos characters make up a kind of portrait of Brazil, in the
process of its formation and the national constitution. From the narratives deployed - two tales
from the book Sagarana (1946) and two passages of the novel Great point Hinterland:
Footpaths (1956) - proceed to a comparative reading in order to understand how the narrative
establishes Rosa, consciously or unconsciously, with parallel the so-called "Brazilian social
thought," assuming some of its characteristics when representations of the enunciation of
values about the wilderness and its people, the wilderness as a metaphor of the nation on
course of establishment of modern values on home soil. In any case, as in both Sagarana
Grande Sertão: Veredas many aspects of the representation of space and its characters move
away, which does not imply that this occurs unilaterally, as in other issues - or a fundamental
issue - the narratives touch , revolve about an axis: deal with Brazil. The work of Rosa draws
a movement that articulates to a greater or lesser degree, the human and geographical reality
