Resumen:
The objective of this study was to evaluate the effect of the levels of substitution of corn crumb for spineless cactus crumb in the diet on the carcass characteristics body constituents from Santa Inês lambs finished at feedlot. This study was carried out at Pendência Experimental Station belonging to State Company of
Agricultural Research of Paraíba (EMEPA-PB). Forty male Santa Inês lambs were used,
feedlot. The treatments were randomly assigned to the animals according to a
completely randomized design, with four treatments, that consisted of growing levels of
substitution of corn crumb for spineless cactus crumb: 0, 33, 66 and 100% of
substitution and ten replications (lambs). The animals were slaughtered, then, they were
evaluated the slaughter body weight, empty body weight, hot carcass weight, cold
carcass weight, non components of carcass (NCC), hot carcass yield, cold carcass yield,
biological yield, revenue of non components of carcass, revenues of non components
groceries of carcass, relative weight and relative value of the commercial cuts and
viscera and organs yield. The averages were submitted it to variance and regression
analyzes to 5% of probability. There wasn t effect of treatment (P>0.05) for biological
yield, revenue of the non components of carcass, relative weight and relative value of
the first and second cuts and on relative weight of viscera and organs. The substitution
of the corn crumb by spineless cactus crumb, on the ration of Santa Inês lambs feedlot,
doesn't interfere in the biological yield, relative weight and relative value of first and
second category cuts and in the relative weight of viscera and other organs.
