Resumen:
The municipality of Parelhas-RN has 83 red ceramic industries in operation in the region. The objective of this work was to evaluate the significant adverse environmental impacts in the industrial operation phase. The methodology adopted was by bibliographical researches, field visits, use of satellite images. In order to identify the impacts, the Ad Hoc environmental impact assessment methods, CheckLists and Interaction Matrix were applied, where significant adverse impacts were identified and classified. The results indicate the total of 41 adverse environmental impacts, among which 33% were very significant, 37% significant and 30% with little significance. The activities that generated the most impacts were the phases of clay extraction and extraction of firewood, affecting the biotic, abiotic and anthropic environments. Environmental control measures and environmental plans and / or programs were proposed. The proposed control measures were soil compaction, environmental degradation, reduction of the oil source, intensification of global warming, soil impoverishment, soil contamination and
/ or contamination, alteration in natural soil drainage, loss of local fauna diversity, erosion , loss of local flora diversity, risk of desertification, loss of soil fertility, risk of accidents, reduction in water availability, risk to human health, loss or reduction of wildlife habitat. The main environmental program plans elaborated were environmental education program for employees, reforestation program, erosion control program.
