Resumo:
Having taken place in Soledade, a small city in the interior of Paraíba, this paper basically
conveys a research work in which it has been used a questionnaire purposed by an Rurban Project. Such a questionnaire has had its use due to data collecting among the peasant residents from that city, naming José Graziano da Silva. Throughout this paper, it can be seen
its aim at characterizing the agricultural and non-agricultural possession áreas in the then city
in order to find out the origin of the gains spent by those peasants. For that, the then paper has
been divided in three chapters. The fírst one illustrates a survey on the main aspeets related to
? The New Rural? whereas the second one includes either an international range or national
one to what refers to Northeast and Paraíba as well. The second one concerns the main social
economic aspeets of Soledade. And the last one represents this research itself. In which there
has been a survey questionnaire so as to achieve a broad idea on the peasants aspeets related
to: education, age rate, possessions distribution according to each one?s reality, their houses
substructures, gains provenience as well as others ones not herein mentioned. As for the
obtained results: country life has inherited urban life features, non - agricultural activities
have been developed by peasants making them lack their singularíty in the search for social
reproduction. And as for that, no difference was found in Soledade. Due to public transference
importance into gains composition as well as agricultural ones, although located in a drought
area, in rain time the city has contributed, beyond its gains coming from non-agricultural
activities. Taking into account the kinds of family, active diversities, those who carry out
agricultural and non - agricultural activities, they are not only the ones who possess higher
incomes but also the ones who better live in the studied context in Soledade. Therefore, the
diversity of activities, which is considered as the most remarkable feature in such a process, has been oceurring in the then city, I mean Soledade. That is seen through the high incomes received by those families who have as gain origins agricultural and non - agricultural activities.
