The theory basis used were the lessons of Cultural History, guided by the discussion of the concepts of modernity and material culture, particularly related to the private consumption: furniture, decorative items, appliances and other utensils found inside their homes, pointing to the construction of the progress and development discourse, widespread among Campina Grande's high society.
