Resumo:
This thesis aims to detect the actions through spatial practices of street vendors in the
center of Campina Grande city, in the period comprising the years 1970 to 1996. How
these individuais appropriatte urban space, building territoriality to himself, the
uncertainties of every day as part of the daily of these people, between assemble and
disassemble tents, merchants' complaints and the action of government, which
prohibited street trading. For this purpose, we used written sources as Diário da
Borborema newspaper, founded in the 1950s, and the Jornal da Paraíba newspaper,
founded in 1972, to assist us in historical context, of how the city and street vendors
were presented, were said by the words of some journalists, who often fit through his
speeches, street vendors as a homogeneous category. Besides the newspapers, we will
use the oral reports of memory in an attempt to point out the peculiarities of each
individual, the individual experiences arguing against the proposal by a homogeneous
media, such as the newspaper.
