Resumo:
The objective with this review to present relevant information about the
cardiorespiratory effects and associations of the main drugs used for epidural anesthesia
in cats, such as lidocaine, tramadol, morphine, fentanyl, drugs α2-agonists and ketamine.
The injected drugs and associations in this way develop minimal cardiorespiratory changes and ventilation of healthy feline patient, without causing severe alkalosis or
acidosis, indicating that the epidural is an efficient technique, safe, and that the drugs
used in this way promote less pronounced effects when used systemically. It should,
however, assessing the patient beforehand, so as to choose the best combination, since
the administration of opioids cause respiratory depression.
