Resumen:
The objective of this research is to put into perspective the childhood constructed by José Lins
do Rego and José Américo de Almeida, taking as study objective their respective books of
memories: "Meus verdes anos" and "Memórias: antes que me esqueça". Using the concepts of
utopia and heterotopia, we aim toward this research to answer the following questions: How
these authors transposed to the scriptural plan their childhood experience? What is the role of
the Northeast regionalist movement on the formation of their subjectivities? Which spatial
elements were chosen to compose the life of a boy from the Engenho in the perspective of
José Lins and José Américo? Taking the memoirist scribe as a document that allows the
reflection on a particular historical context of the emergency of the Brazil's Northeast, we
also search to put into suspension the life on the Engenho (sugar cane mills), in an attempt to
problematize the varieties of everyday experiences on the casa-grande on the point of view
from the internal and external spaces. These experiences waves for a wide range of
possibilities that allow us to conjecture about the multiple historicities that are present on the
memoirist plots of José Lins do Rego and José Américo de Almeida, since from their
remembrances, we can get a glimpse of one of the ways i f being a child in Brazil on the late
nineteenth century and on the early twentieth century.
