Résumé:
This work aims at an assuense space construction while a history, poetry, and tradition land,
and concurrently, the composition of an imaging-discursive practice which is necessary to the
action about Assú City, that is lied in Rio Grande do Norte wilderness. It is questioned here
about the "lines" that naturally delineate the well-articulated cartography around a history
almost epic and a poetic vocation, considered like traditional. It is about the study which it
intends to contribute to the relations knowledge among discourse, identity, History, and space
related to the historical knowledge. From the discourse analyses theoretical references by
Foucault, who sees the language as pragmatic, action promoting, also responsible for
knowledge and power spaces invention. It works here through the archeological/genealogical
method by Foucault, in which the writing and pictures are analyzed as statement and,
accordingly as discursive event. In this way, it is done the discursive coatings decomposition
that were sedimented by poems, images, hymns, journalistic topics, academic discourses,
memories writing, and so on. This discourse accumulation built the assuense spatial identity
construction based on the conceptions of "old and traditional" city, "green carnaubais land",
"poets city" and "Norte-Rio-Grandense Athens". Therefore, this study finds out the strategic
operation of an archetypical space constitution in the potiguar cultural view between the
1920s and 1990s, allowing the making of questions about the history and poetry that invest in
the discourse positivity of assuense "tradition".
