Abstract:
The uncontrolled exploitation of natural resources causes suffer more and more adverse changes in the ecological environment. Therefore, it is necessary to look for alternatives to mitigate this problem. Seed Paper emerges as a creative solution, because in its recycling process germinable seeds are added that can be used in the recovery of degraded areas and in the diffusion of Environmental Education practices. In this study aimed to produce and test different types of Seed Paper with different plant species with potential for use in the recovery of degraded areas. The methodological procedures were based on five stages: 1) choice of plant species; 2) analysis of germination of the seeds for the comparison of vegetal species in natura with the Seed Paper; 3) production of Seed Paper; 4) elaboration of the products; and 5) preparation of a proposal for an Environmental Education Plan. It was verified that different types of seeds can be used to make the Seed Paper, which influences the paper weight, allowing the production of different types of products. The characteristics of the Paper Seed presented variable malleability due to differences in thickness, homogeneous base paste and variable textures. Seed Paper had higher germination efficiency for coriander, canapistula, tomato, yellow ipê, passion fruit and pink ipê seeds, respectively. The procedure of the production of the products was simple, which makes possible their insertion in the practices of Environmental Education. The proposal of production of the Paper Seed presented potential to recovery of degraded areas, when compared to the seed germination rates in natura.
