Abstract:
The main objective of this dissertation work was the analysis of waves
conditions in the equatorial mesospheric region in São João Cariri-PS (7.4o S; 36.5°
O) through wind data collected between January and December 2005 by the
SkiYMET meteoric radar installed at the Atmospheric Luminescence Observatory
from Paraiba (OLAP). To estimate the main wave parameters, it was applied
the technique of hodograph analysis on the data of the horizontal components of the wind.
This technique is widely applied in the study of almost monochromatic waves. You
The results obtained showed five elliptical hodographs, thus suggesting the
presence of atmospheric waves with a certain degree of polarization. these waves
showed periods approximately between 17 and 50 h and wavelengths
horizontal approximately between 4000 and 15000 km. In this work, such waves
were classified as gravity-inertia wave.
