Abstract:
The goat is one of the oldest farming practices in Brazil, whose origin dates back
to the times of the Portuguese occupation. Their flocks are present in all five major
regions of the country, but is more prevalent in the Northeast. Despite the growth and
new approach for the goat, both milk and its derivatives also fall short since the papers
show quality deficiency, physico-chemical, biological and microbiological changes, for
example. These flaws in the production process have contributed to condemnation of
milk and milk products in the mini-mills, and is responsible for the damage to the
people involved in the production chain of goat milk. Considering the importance of
public health aspects and economic losses to production, this study was conducted to
verify the composition and somatic cell count of the goat milk produced by farms and
evaluate their improvement after implantation Good Agricultural Practices. Two
properties were chosen for the implementation of the project, being carried out prior
recognition of the area of the properties and evaluated the initial conditions of their
breeding systems and major failures in management. After diagnosing the main faults
were proposed improvements for correction. The practical proposals contributed
significantly to improving the quality of milk, but the nutritional management remains a
glimpse for small producers. The implementation of good practice minimized the risk
factors that the animals were exposed and hence the animal mastitis tables, reflecting
the significant reduction of the CCS values.
