Abstract:
The study was developed in the period of January from 2000 to December of 2007, in the
Veterinary Hospital of the Center of Health and Rural Technology of the Federal
University of Campina Grande / Patos - PB, occurring the rising of the occurrence of
osteopathies in equine of different age groups, races and mesticagens, both sexes,
submitted to several exploration systems and adverse handling conditions. Aiming at with
the accomplishment, to identify the osteopathies more ocorrentes, tends in views
perspectives of improving inherent clinical knowledge to the aspects etiopatogenicos, the
resources diagnoses and therapeutic of those afeccoes. Being verified a casuistry of 117
episodes, among the ones which, larger occurrence of fractures (23,9%), exostose
(17,9%), osteoartrite (14,5%) and traumatic arthritis (12,8%); with more expressive
attacks in annual term in 2007, by the registration of 11 cases of exostoses. To the
evaluation of the variables race, sex and age, it evidenced casuistries remarkably superiors
in equine of the race Room of Mile (61) and Without Races Defined (50) regarding the
racial prevalence and, sexual (respectively, 44 and 37 attacked), with larger relevance in
the age group from five to nine years. Being ended that in the conditions of the
accomplishment of the study, the osteopathies ocorrentes in equine are diversified and of
focal traumatic etiopatogenia, with predominance of fractures, exostoses and afeccoes you
articulate. Being verified that equine of the race Room of Mile and Without Race Defined,
male, in the age group from five to nine years are more predisposed to osteopathies.
